May is Fabulous After Fifty!

May is Older Americans Month and also marks a slew of things like Arthritis Awareness Month, Osteoporosis Month, Stroke Awareness Month, etc. etc.  We prefer to call it "Fabulous After Fifty" to celebrate just how great life can be when you're fifty or older.
Some of our Partners in Health agree and are featuring some great promotions this month for the Fabulous Over Fifty Crowd - such as:
  • FREE Class Passes at Club Energy
  • Free 3-day passes at Camas Center
  • $20 Facial Fridays at Anastasia's Spa & Salon.
Sound great?  We think so too!  As usual, there are a host of other healthy activities and events going on in May as well (Inter-generational Art Show at CREATE, Who Let the Girls Out!? shopping extravaganza, etc.) so be sure to check our May Featured Events Page and our Community Calendar for full details.

HBO's Documentary:
The Weight of the Nation

Watch Part 1 right here.  This is really serious stuff.  This 4 part Documentary walks us through the obesity crisis facing our country, how we got here, where we're heading and what can and needs to be done.

We don't normally recommend an evening on the couch but in this case, we make an exception!

Community Health Calendar & Healthy Spots

Community Health Calendar

It's hard enough to make healthy choices without having to spend hours trying to figure out what healthy options are out there.  So, to make your life a little easier (and, we hope, healthier), we've put together a Community Health Calendar and a directory of Healthy Spots around the Greater Newport Area.

We've picked a DIFFERENT THEME EACH MONTH TO HIGHLIGHT but we're still going to do our best to post everything else that's going on health & wellness-related in our community.

PS If you have something healthy to add to Healthy Newport, whether it's a healthy activity, event, program, spot, product or service, we want to hear from you!  What are you waiting for?  Contact us now to learn how you can become a part of Healthy Newport!  New events, activities & healthy spots will be added all the time!
