Trimmin' the Fat wins Fit Together! challenge again!

Picture
It was a close race but for the 2nd time in a row, Trimmin' the Fat, from the Newport Hospital and Health Services Radiology Department, claimed top honors in the latest Fit Together! team challenge.  In a close second (again) were the Paper Weights from the Newport Miner and in 3rd place was Walking the Talk from EWU EHS.  Top steppers were the Hair Benders from Anastasia's Spa & Salon and top team photo went to the Red Hot Mammas!  Photos from the wrap up party are posted on our Facebook page and all team photos and more results are posted here!

Chef William Wayland wins SOUPerbowl 2013 Trophy - Best Soup in Town!

William Wayland
His Krab Chill-O-Liscious stole the show!  Chef William Wayland, of River Mountain Village, took a calculated risk at the Healthy Newport SOUPerbowl, serving up the only chilled soup in the room.  It was worth it!  Edging out second place finisher, Chef Pete Scobby of The Kitchen Shoppe (Cream of Potato Leak Bacon) by only 3 votes, Chef Wayland's soup had everyone coming back for seconds.

Also serving up delicious soups were Owen's Grocery & Deli, Newport Hospital and The Ranch Club.  And of course, Judy Henshaw from the Newport School District had a scrumptious (non-competing) vegetable soup on hand just to round out the field.  Thanks to all our chefs, participating restaurants and eateries and community members who showed up to sip, savor and vote - it was a great event!  View event photos on our Facebook page here.

Community Health Calendar & Healthy Spots

Community Health Calendar
It's hard enough to make healthy choices without having to spend hours trying to figure out what healthy options are out there.  So, to make your life a little easier (and, we hope, healthier), we've put together a Community Health Calendar and a directory of Healthy Spots around the Greater Newport Area.

We've picked a DIFFERENT THEME EACH MONTH TO HIGHLIGHT but we're still going to do our best to post everything else that's going on health & wellness-related in our community.  If you have something healthy to add to Healthy Newport, Contact us now!  New events, activities & healthy spots will be added all the time!
