Healthy Eating Tips

Our plan is to start adding a bunch of Healthy Eating Tips to our website.  We're starting with some handouts (at the bottom of the page) that you can easily read or print (and post on your fridge!) and soon we hope to add some guest articles and Q&A's about healthy eating, nutrition, etc.  Stay tuned and, if you have any great ideas about what we should be including, please Contact Us!

Harvard's Healthy Eating Plate

You've probably heard of the Food Pyramid and the USDA's MyPlate.  But you might not have heard of Harvard's "Healthy Eating Plate", which we think is worth paying attention to.  The Healthy Eating Plate, created by experts at Harvard School of Public Health and Harvard Medical School, points consumers to the healthiest choices in the major food groups. According to Harvard's researchers, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's MyPlate, in contrast, fails to give people some of the basic nutrition advice they need to choose a healthy diet. According to Harvard experts, the Healthy Eating Plate is based exclusively on the best available science and was not subjected to political and commercial pressures from food industry lobbyists. We show the Harvard Healthy Eating Plate below and here's a link that will show you a table comparing the Healthy Eating Plate to the USDA's MyPlate, section by section.  What do you think?
