March 2012 is Nutrition!

March is National Nutrition Month and, as we all learned at the Launch Dinner (or have read on Our Statistics page), this country, our state and our county are facing significant challenges on the obesity front.  27.5% of American adults are obese, and 30% of adults living in Pend Oreille County are obese [defined as having a BMI of 30 or higher].  Obesity has been recognized as one of the leading preventable causes of death worldwide and yet it's treatable with physical exercise and proper food choices.

February was all about getting more active so now we're turning to the other main piece of the equation:  nutrition & healthy eating!  We're offering some nutrition classes and launching the Corporate/Group Fit Together! Challenge that awards points not only for activity, but also for nutrition and mystery challenges!  If you want to see EVERYTHING that's going on, visit our Community Calendar here.  You can also view our March E-Newsletter here.
