October 2012 is Mind, Body & Humor

Fall is definitely here and it's a great time to reflect on some of the other aspects of health and wellness beyond eating right and working out.  For those of you participating in our FIt Together! Challenge, the weekly "mystery" challenges are aimed at this kind of thing.    Health is an all-encompassing goal and so we encourage you to check out some of the wonderful local events and activities that can help you with "whole-body" health this month:

Oktoberfest Celebration in Downtown Priest River organized by the Priest River Chamber of Commerce.   Festivities include sidewalk art, scarecrow contest, Oktoberfest beverages, specialty arts & crafts, yodeling competition, live music, 5k fun run, quilt show and climbing wall.   More info at www.priestriverchamber.com.

2nd Annual Violence Prevention Walk 2012 at the Camas Learning Center.  Fun, family event with a dinner provided afterwards and goodie bags for all participants.  See poster below for more info.

Drug Wars:  The Camarena Story Movie Night in honor of Red Ribbon Week at the Camas Center for Community Wellness.  Dinner provided, along with separate entertainment for small children.  More info on poster below.

As always, there are a bunch of other healthy events, classes and activities going on in the Newport area, such as exercise classes and swimming lessons at the Camas Center, exercise classes at Club Energy, dance and exercise classes at Anastasia's Spa & Salon and CREATE, tumbling lessons at All Star Tumbling, cooking classes at The Kitchen Shoppe, various support groups and more.
