About Our Logo
What do you think of when you think of health? We scratched our head on that one too ... it can mean so many things to so many people. We wanted a logo that conveyed health in a friendly way, that was inclusive and that would be easily recognizable. Our Washington roots were also in the mix, as was the concept that this was going to be a grassroots community-based movement.
As you may know, the apple is the official state fruit of Washington (designated in 1989). Washington produces over 40% of the apples grown in the United States. And who can't help but think of the old adage "An apple a day, keeps the doctor away?". We like the global shape of an apple, and associated green with health and the spectacular natural beauty that surrounds us.
"Fit Together" is meant to capture the notion that we are in this together, as a community. And finally, we wanted something simple and true to our roots. We hope our logo conveys that feel and represents "Healthy Newport" well.
